This week we are featuring Big Friendships at the Audible of the Week. This book popped up on my suggested books, and since my friends are such an enormous part of support in life, I figured it would be right up my alley. Aminatou and Ann read the book themselves, which adds to the story of deep friendship, giving us a glimpse of the journey these young ladies have been on together and the challenges they have had both in life together.
I enjoyed that it was real and not merely the highlight reel of their lives. Just like all relationships, friendships take effort. They take mutual respect and compassion. I appreciate the real insight of how they continuously work to stay in touch and to overcome the challenges life has thrown in their way both together and separately – giving space when appropriate and being present when needed. Of course, I felt a rush of gratitude for the fantastic friendships I have in my life, reminding me of the old song,
“Make New Friends, but Cherish the Old. One is Silver and the Other Gold.”
Tell us what you think of this one.
